Club Background and Activities

Carey Snowsports Club was established in 1988 by a number of like-minded families wishing to create an environment within the Carey Community that fostered the interest they shared in snow activities.

The Club has grown over the years and has created many friendships between both families and students within the school; making Snowsports an exciting and friendly Club to be part of.

Carey Snowsports Club has received increased support from the School in the form of funding and wonderful assistance from teachers. The teacher in charge of Snowsports in 2008 is Mrs Pam Westendorf who will be assisted by Mr Chris Phyland.

The driving force of ongoing activity comes from the many keen families that enjoy the snow. Without the parent run Committee the Club would not exist. Come along and get involved.

Much of the focus of our Club is on entering students in the Victorian Interschool Championships at Mount Buller each year. You do not need to be an expert skier / snowboarder as this level of competition is aimed at every type of participant from novice to expert racer. In any of the Interschool Competitions you will see a wide variety of participants in both ability and age. There are divisions from Prep until Year 12. Div 5 includes Prep to Year 4, Div 4 covers Years 5 & 6, Div 3 covers Years 7 & 8, Div 2 covers Years 9 & 10, and Div 1 covers Years 11 & 12. Carey Snowsports has a history of entering students across all divisions. THIS IS A TEAM ACTIVITY AND EACH PARTICIPANT IS IMPORTANT REGARDLESS OF LEVEL OR ABILITY.

There is great fun to be had in the Club with a steady calendar of activities from term 2 onwards. You will find an outline of these in the Information booklet.

If you enjoy the Alpine environment and are interested in socializing with other like-minded families this is the Club for you.

Please read on and if you have any questions feel free to contact any of the Snowsports Committee.
